Feast your eyes on these:
this is a sample of anodized blue metalic gauges (same as in the new R's) but in X70 USA spec markings. This picture also shows all the markings LASER CUT from the faces so everything will be back lit and look stock at night but during the day, they will give off a really nice metalic blue look, unlike the other paper looking blue dials already available. or even our dull gray stock ones

The difference between the ones we'll get and this one in the photo are that the markings will be Euro spec, so that means the fuel gauge will read in liters, the UNLEADED FUEL ONLY :P will be gone and the speedo will read in kmh up to 260kmh (obviously these US spec dials would be inaccurate on our cars)
You have options as well! (yes choice is good no?) Thuur and I have talked some about creating a custom solution to create a FRONT LIT solution for the gauge cluster just like in the new Rs. We have yet to experiment but are confident we can pull this off with installing LED lights at the top of the cluster. Just like Thuur's ABS module fix, we hope that this solution will appeal to others if they want it installed in their cars maybe by ordering a kit or sending the cluster to him. So what does this mean?
This means that the dials will also be available with the numbers laser ETCHED into the metal so they won't be back lit and will be white/aluminum looking, however the increment markings around the speedo and rpm faces will remain cut and back lit. Now I know not everyone wants the R look, especially on this forum ;) So there are also other colors available for those more conservative:
As well as Anodized Blue (pictured) there's Brushed/Untouched Aluminum, and MAYBE Polished Black or Gray
The other options are either ALL markings (so increments, numbers, fuel and oil icons and X1000R/min) laser cut and back lit (like in the picture) OR
ONLY the increments are laser cut and the rest are laser etched, depending on what people think, maybe everything can be etched too.
PRICE is 55 Euro a set. Not sure how much Thuur will ask for his front light solution, that will be determined when we figure how we're going to pull that off, or you can do it yourselves!

Ik heb ook interesse in zo'n setje tellerplaaten, in't blauw zoals hierboven. Ik vroeg me enkel af wat ik me mag voorstellen bij de optie die Barry hier naar voor schuift. Het klinkt wel mooi, maar zie je dan nog wel cijfers op de tellers bij nacht?
If you go for the etched numbers, then they will NOT be backlit like your current dials and you won't be able to see them at night, you'll have to implement some kind of front lit solution, so maybe see what Thuur and I come up with later OR you can try your own solution like drilling holes at the top of the cluster and installing LEDs or something to light the front of the faces.
The option to have everything laser cut will have everything backlit and thus visible at night without further modification
I plan on ordering both ;)
in combinatie met alu tellerringen is dit wel tof, ik kan me alleen nog niet zoveel voorstellen bij die combi etched/backlit, heb je een foto van deze? mischien van een v70r n
IK kan me er ook niets bij voorstellen (helaas) zoek eigenlijk die van de S70R
van deze technisch uitleg kan ik geen hout snijden....
wellicht maken foto's by night de zaak wat duidelijker? En dan vooral de verschillen tussen de opties... ???

het was ook een idee dat the buiten rand waar the lijntjes zijn met een ander gekleurde plaat gemaakt zou kunnen worden, net als in the nieuwe R autos, maar dat blijkt niet mooi te zijn want aan the rand van de toeren teller en temperature/benzine teller zijn de ruimtes tussen de rand en de nummers niet gelijk.
Does this make anyone even interested in them at all or did I just poop a brick for nothing? :P

Hoe gaan ze er voor een 850 uit zien ? :eusa_think:
not sure if these will fit all 850 models, I've heard that there are two different types of 850 gauge clusters, one made my a Japanese company called Yazaki for 94/95 models, another company made them pre 94 called VDO, the guy I THINK makes them for the Yakazi model (which are the same size as the X70 faces)

For those interested, what do you think is better? Only Km the way we have them now? Found that the UK has both miles and km and properly calibrated for our cars (so up to 260kmh)

The truth is, you can do anything to the gauges you want, you can change the font, the color, but the thing is, that requires more time much more costs, and ultimately I just want to design something that everyone will like and want for this groups buy, otherwise the best thing to do is just everyone contact this guy themselves and order exactly what they want but just pay more for them. Then you can order them with rings, in purple, in purple and pink, smaller or bigger circumfrences, custom logos, etc
At the moment I'm trying to get a set of OEM faces sent to him so that he can make the Euro spec ones for us, thats why theres the choice of only Km or both Km and Miles and hence why I can't provide a photo of the exact product either at the moment. The photo on the first post of this thread is the best I can do so far, just picture it with your original markings.

tuurlijk wel.
leds gaan op een paar tiende van een volt van uit naar aan, is wel te dimmen maar niet via je normale dashboarddimmer

Leds "stuur" je met stroom. En dat gaat met een goed uitgerekend serie weerstandje en de bestaande dimmer prima.
Het bewijs zit in mijn auto. ;D (in de schakelaars dan welliswaar, maar het idee is het zelfde)

Inderdaad een "home made" oplossing. Veel meer dan een ledje met een weerstandje is het niet hoor.

Is inderdaad met 1 weerstandje op te lossen, vorige auto was ook alles met leds gedaan, en gewoon te dimmen via dashswitch!
ik met mijn kersverse v70 heb ook interesse in een set blauw en dan wil ik het dus zoals op die foto? maar dan moet ik duss zelf verlichting maken voor om de buitenste ring begrijp ik?

The guy has the ability to make them for the 850, but only for the 850 gauges that are the same shape and layout as the X70 gauges. These gauges will fit but won't work on an 850 because of the numbering scale. Plus this project is for the X70 gauges in Euro spec and I'm currently working to change that from US spec.

its slow progress right now, but its on the work.
I'm looking into getting Volvo N.A. to provide the Euro spec face designs to the fabricator and I've got someone looking into the LED front lighting components from the actual S60R to see if they are transferable to our cars at all.
Its going relatively slow because its the Holiday season and everyone's starting to slow down.
