Current H3 bulbs are really ugly with the yellow color compared to te 6000K HID
Only current solution would be to get an H3 HID kit for another 170 euro.

Actually, turns the fogs into DRLs but I never found the fogs all the useful anyway. 6LEDs, 6000K matching, can be on all the time since they're no longer fog lights.

Volgens mij gaat de politie daar wel overzeuren, heeft iets te maken met de codering op je mistlamp.
Hebben we niet een KLPD er online hier, die dat weet ???

Verder is het verboden hinderlijke verlichting te voeren, meer dan 4 lampen aan de voorzijde te voeren, al dan niet in afwijkende kleur/knipperend en wat al dies meer zij.
ach ik ben al een keer aangehouden door een motormuis toen ik mijn mistlichten voerden.
Dus zulke Led mistlichten lijken mij ook wel gaaf ;D

So that would make them about 22.50 USD or about 15 euro for a pair EXCLUDING SHIPPING from the US and mailing to you once they arrive in NL (hoping Marc will come on board for this one)
One thing, they've told me that there will be a 9 SMT bulb coming out end of the month (these ones are 6 SMT I believe) I would personally prefer the 9 for the slightly brighter affect. Anyone else? I will ask for pricing on the 9 SMT and post when I hear back.

Dat Klopt idd, een mistlamp heeft de codering F of B, maar veelal zijn de armaturen ook te krijgen zonder codering.
Zonder codering heeft oom agent geen aanknopingspunt over wat voor een lamp het is en kun je dus zelf zeggen wat het is....Day time running light dus als het zo uitkomt... :eusa_dance:

Okay, the 9SMT bulbs apparently look like this except with an H3 base, does this kind of design make any sense for our use in the foglights since they are projector style? (on the C70 anyway) Doesn't it make more sense to have all the LEDs pointing forward?

Maakt weinig uit denk ik, een gloeidraad geeft ooklicht in alle richtingen. Van het brandpunt klopt zowieso geen barst meer. Het zal dus wel een spannend lichtbeeld geven. ;D De lichtsterkte is erg laag; veel hinder zal het overdag (!) niet opleveren.
Yes, but a filament bulb also gives a lot more light in the forward direction too, this one only has a single forward facing LED which is a small amount of light to begin with, so an LED bulb with mutliple forward facing bulbs would be better concerning output on project lights right?
They'll be cool to see during day and especially at night, the 6 LED T10 bulb I'm using in the headlights right now are very distinctive during the day ;D

Een mistlicht schijnt toch alleenmaar voor uit, en volgens mij heeft de 850 geen side reflectors die het licht weer vooruit zouden zenden.
Of zie ik dat verkeerd ?

Volgens mij heb je helemaal gelijk, ik zou het liefst gaan voor de 6 naar voren schijnende leds.
Its not 100% confirmed at the moment whether a bulb with only forward facing bulbs is more effective than a bulb with more LEDs but not all of them pointing directly forward, though thats what logic would suggest right? Arguably, a bulb with more LEDs whether they're facing forward or to the site will give off more light and so a brighter output might be expected. Either way, these will render your fog lights pretty useless for actual use but should look awesome when matching the HIDs if you have them installed.

Thats why unless I can get a custom bulb made with multiple forward facing LEDs (like this one above) then I'll be ordering the 6LED bulb (which is also cheaper)

the third MAYBE possibility is that we get a custom bulb made, no details on that yet.
Just had a brief conversation with Thuur who has quite some knowledge about LED lighting (he's also assisting on the front lit gauge cluster project).
He recons that a bulb with MORE LEDs, regardless of where they point, will be better and brighter than an only forward facing bulb because of the reflectors behind the projector lens, making the bulb act more like a regular filament bulb and thus more light.
This is something I've also thought about but was unsure whether projector style fogs even had reflectors behind them; apparently they do, meaning the 9SMT bulb would perform and look better...
so regardless is this is the case or not, the more the LEDs the better, so a 24 LED all forward facing bulb would obviously prevail better, or even a bulb is mutliple LEDs point in several directions.

Ach, het is toch al verboden om je voor mistlichten te voeren 99% van de tijd.
Dus dan maakt het ook niet veel meer uit of het nu toegestaan of echt bruikbaar is.

Awesome news people, we have the ability to create our own custom bulb which means we can add as many LEDs as we like, more importantly, as many as will fit.
Which is why I need someone to measure the opening of where the bulb fits through into the fog light space of a V/S70 and post the dimensions for me on here, I will check on my C70 for the coupes and softtops, others can double check with me.
I think this will be cool if we can get as bright an LED H3 bulb as possible, this means we could have a bulb retaining 6 or more forward facing leds like the current bulb, plus add a bunch to the sides as well ;)

Anyone on the bulb opening dimensions of an S/V70 fog light?
Managed to bust up one my bulbs in the process (doesn't look like the bulb was replaced in the entire car's existance!) space on a C70 is BARELY 15mm, so that doesn't leave a lot of room, doubt the S/V has anything smaller, so lets go ahead with that.

No, this is only for a pair of H3 LED bulbs for your front fog lights.
I just wanna point out that I have absolutely no prior experience with these sellers of this bulb, I'm just looking for a solution to match my HID like eveyone else.

Except that that won't work in our cars because the relay for the signal is also the relay for something else (I forget what) so replacing the relay will disable the other thing.

Vergeet niet dat de Cruise Control er ook me stopt op de LED remlichten.... Ik zoek nog naar een oplossing, en dan niet met stroomvretende weerstanden, want die worden heet en laten je LEDs langzaam 'opgloeien' net als een.. tja.. gloeilamp ;D

die codering staat in je glas, heeft dus nix met de lamp te maken.

The second set will be the same price but if we get 20 orders then we'll get a bigger discount than 25% on a lower price, unconfirmed as of yet, but we could get 25% off $30 instead of the original $35
by my rough calculations, that $23 per set or about 15 euro.
Shipping should be about $50 for everthing. so I will divide that accordinly as well. I will also factor in 19% customs tax and about 5 euro mailing.
Like I said, it will cost about 30 euro or so, about 45 euro for 2 sets.
Vandaag voor de zekerheid even nagekeken op het werk. Volgens Vida heeft de 850 en C70 H3 lampen in de mistlampen, Maar S70 en V70 H1 lampen. Daar gaan deze lampen dus niet in passen lijkt mij.

In mn instructieboekje van de V70 staat H3 foglights. Net het lampje eruit gehaald. Er zit echt een H1 lamp in. Ik kan er dus niks mee en moet helaas afhaken. SORRY

please no more cancellations, I've put the order through and I don't want to keep emailing the guy that we now have 17, no wait, 16, wait 15, etc, etc. so if you find out after now that you don't have H3, please just buy the bulb and try to sell it here on the forum afterwards or buy a car that has H3 fog lights, at the end of the day you're only out about 30 euros anyway and someone is bound to buy them from you anyway.

Bruggetje op het werk is vrij vd week, dus kan er zo aan de slag om ze er eventjes in te prutsen; op groot licht na heb ik dan alleen nog led en xenon aan de voorkant wat het aanzicht toch wel even iets anders maakt!
Gelijk even kijken of ik met een dremeltje het glaasje van de mistlichtjes nog een beetje kan verfraaien door de oneffenheden een klein beetje weg te frezen. Is in de loop der jaren een beetje dof geworden van het continu zandstralen waardoor ook het schaarse licht dat er vanaf komt verwatert.

The fogs looks brighter in the picture than they actually are, they're really quite dim and they really just give off a nice white glow rather than any light. To be extremely honest, I had hoped for a little more light, but thats the thing about LEDs, the light is just too focused, but I doubt it would have been any better with the other bulb.
I kinda like it, am not completely over the moon with it, you won't be able to see them much during the day but they give of a sort of "What's that?" factor, people will look for sure, and you won't be bothered by police for having them on all the time thats for sure, and thats what I intend to do because they're definitly starting to grow on me. To switch over to Xenon fogs will be more difficult because I like the fact that I can have these on all the time now.
In my opinion, I think that in a similar way that the new Audi R8 and S6 look sort of mysterious and mean with their LED strips, I find this has a similar effect in that, its not a light that gives off any purpose other than make the car look wider and intense (in a subtle sort of way)
For reasons I won't disclose publicly, I had a tough time installing these and Thuur was a sure light at the end of the tunnel (definitly brigher than these bulbs thats for the sure) For uber thanks to him for his advise and staying on the phone with me during the install. Don't worry though, they are plug n play ;)

effe knutselen om de H3 lamp in de H1 houder te freubelen,
maar dat gaat zonder meer wel lukken heb ik gezien,
hier ook binnen , morgen even monteren...
Misschien een gekke vraag, maar is de H7 versie geschikt voor het dimlicht (ook al staat er dat het niet mag :))?
De H3 kunnen dus worden gebruikt voor vervanging van de mistlampen, is er ook nog een versie die het stadslicht kan vervangen zodat je dus overal ledverlichting kan voeren?

Was het zo makkelijk dan, ik ben heel erg technische :eusa_eh: Hint :eusa_pray:
Is echt super makkelijk. Ik heb me auto ff aan 1 kant opgekrikt zodat je iets meer ruimte hebt voor onder de bumper.
Dan is het een kwestie van de zwarte achterkant linksom een klein stuk ongeveer 40 graden losdraaien, dan eraf halen. Het witte draadje in de zwarte deksel loshalen. Dan zit het lampje nog vast doormiddel van een veertje. Deze zit links in de fitting zit vast achter 2 haakjes, iets indrukken en dan het veertje iets na elkaar toe drukker en dan veert ie open. Nu kan je het lampje wisselen en dan alles weer terugbouwen.
Maar het is echt een fluitje van een cent. Ik ben langer bezig geweest met dit verhaal typen en nee ik type echt niet langzaam.

Twijfel of de opbrengst beter is ( was het me eigenlijk om te doen ) maar dat zie ik morgenochtend wel als ik naar mijn werk ga.

Ook hier zijn ze geleverd. We waren niet thuis en ze pasten inderdaad niet door de brievenbus. Toch heeft de bezorger dat geprobeerd :o

Tja....dacht het wel; led verlichting levert geen drol licht op... kijk maar naar de led tuinverlichting op zonne-energie... maar ook de ledlichtbronnen ter vervanging van halogeenspots voor binnenverlichting zijn hun geld nog lang niet waard (ik heb al een aantal van dit soort led verlichting uitgeprobeerd en ben nog geen goede tegengekomen....ben inkoper van o.a. verlichting voor de Multimatebouwmarkten)

Lichtopbrengst is inderdaad uien, orginele doen iets beter hun best.
Voor het showeffect is het goed en dan in combinatie met Xenon en LED stadslicht.

Van deze had ik wel iets meer verwacht, van die wedge LED voor stadslicht wist ik inderdaad wel dat die meer voor de looks waren.

Ik had wel iets meer lichtopbrengst verwacht, maar vind het verder geen probleem. De standaard mistlampen gaven wel wat meer licht, maar hadden bij echte mist ook al geen nut. De leds blijven dus gewoon zitten bij mij ;)
Dus als ik bv. een 5W achterlichtje met fitting in de mistlampbehuizing prop heb ik hetzelfde effect?

ehhe,.. I know. I wouldn't expect a bright beam of light from them. But they look good though.

Zometeen even de werkbrug ontruimen en de centrale doorschakelen naar een loop-o-foon... zag dat mijn electrische antenne ook met vertraging werkt (massa niet goed?) dus ga even prutsen tijdens de dienst.

Zo, effe een kwartiertje geprutst, om de H3 om te vormen naar H1,
Zag alleen later dat er in de lamp zelf nog een afscherming zit voor de
bovenkant van de lamp, heb ik maar even laten zitten.
ze zitten er in (qua licht geen vervanging ) maar ziet er stoer uit, een
kleine licht blauwe waas zit er in.
Effe de camera opladen, dan zal ik effe foto schieten :-)
Ik ben helemaal blij, nou maar hopen dat oom agent het ook is :-)

Vwb de licht opbrengst, ach ik heb mistlampen nooit echt als meerwaarde gezien aangezien je bijna nooit aan mag doen. En als dat wel mag (< 50m zicht) dan helpen ze nauwelijks (op Nieuwjaarsnacht nog getest).

True! I actually installed it (as fog light), but it was way less than I expected. I'm thinking about putting xenon fog lights. So I thought why not use the LED's for something else and I came up with this. Otherwise I'd just put them away, that would be a pity. ;)
keep us (or at least me) posted on the HID fog lights you install, I've thought about doing that too, just bummer that you'd only be able to use them never :P
