hallo

i want to ask about the stock downpipe in a 95er, manual gearbox, 850 t5-R...
can i replace the g15 for the t18/t19 without a 3" dp, for the first.
is the flange of the stock dp available for one of this turbos?

The flange on the 18T turbo is a straight flange, and is identical to the one of a 16T turbo which was on the 850R, so the stock downpipe(conical form) will not fit.
The flange of the 19T turbo is angled, so it will not fit either!
The conical flange on the 15G-downpipe only fits the 15G.
I myself have a 850R with the 18T turbo, and once a year for the VAT/APK check-up I have to change the downpipe.
But why get a bigger turbo and at the same time leave a stock downpipe??
You lose A LOT!! of power  by simply placing the original downpipe.
Please look
(for example) for a secondhand dp with catalyser.
I had been driving a stock 16T DP and 18T turbo with chip for a while, but after DP it really went much faster!

remember: the most power for the buck:
1. chip+ sports airfilter
2. downpipe
3. other, much more expensive things suchs as turbo, intercooler, injectors etc.

At most tuners you can ask for a discount-package if you buy a bigger turbo, DP and chip.
Or go for the longer way: look very closely on the internet for the right secondhand DP, then a (new) turbo. After you installed them go straightforward to the tuner and do NOT test the new applications.(note that after placing the turbo and DP, without the right software you should really drive very cautious to your tuner in order not to damage the engine).

Good luck, and be careful with your beatiful car! ;)

hi

i know about this, how many performance i will lose if i´ll do this.
but it was first i my mind because i have in january not so many that i get a dp.
i work in a car factory "TRW Automotive" and they have a crisis -> it called "kurzarbeit"

i know this is not a reason for this, but if the stock dp have been 1 to 1, then i have get the dp in february and try not to use the car so often and when then drive not so fast ;).

i will go to european for the mte software and the turbo.
then flashed the old ecu with the new software, back to home, install all the stuff and we will look how it works and go ;) :D.

thx anyway for the answer :)

It is really hard (at least for me) to not seek the red line of the RPM gauge from time to time. One full boost run can destroy your engine if the hardware and software doesn't match. Go get the turbo first, then install it, and go back (really careful) for the software (chip). Or have the turbo delivered, or have it installed there (maybe you can discuss a deal?).

It isn't worth destroying your engine, unless you want to go all the way (overbore, reinforced pistons, etc.) ;)

DP changes will not affect AFR as much as a different turbo, but it is better to have a check at your tuner's. Check this topic: http://www.volvo850forum.nl/index.php/topic,5334.0.html (throw it in translate.google.com if you can't read Dutch).

In short: get the right hardware, then have it chipped. A decent tuner will check AFR after the upgrade to make sure everything will last for losts of fun.
