850 stationwagen 96 model
passenger side headlamp motor runs continually when the contact is on, is this a common fault? Tried removing it last night in the garage, after blood, sweat and tears, bloody thing would not come out, stuck behind cable ducting in front and the radiator to the right.

Is it possible to remove the motor without having to take the whole front end of the car apart? And should I buy new units? Is there a chance that any second hand parts will have the same problem?

cables disconnected, otherwise motor runs non-stop . how can i remove the motor?

why would you want to remove it?
is it the motor to change the "lichtbundel" or for the wipers?

bought the car and noticed the passenger side koplamp wisser (correct word? small wiper blade on the headlight)) wasn't working, the electrical connector was not connected. when connected the motor runs, but the shaft that the wiper blade is on doesn't turn. the motor is jammed in the run position. Motor runs continually if there is power to it. I tried to remove the motor, headlight out for more room, but the motor is stuck behind trunking/ducting from the large black box behind the ruitenwisser vloiestof and trying to prise out out to the side results in it hitting the radiator. I have to remove the motor to check what the problem is, or to replace it. There is not a lot of space on that side of the car.
Has anyone ever had this problem, or knows an easy way to remove the motor? On the drivers side there seems to be a lot more room by the battery.

de motor zit achter dat koplampstripje onder de koplamp, vast met 2 boutjes, in je voorfront. kwestie van je wisser los maken, strip met beleid lostrekken naar je toe.  en daarachter 2x met dopsleutel 10  de boel loshalen.  

linker motor is wat krapper dan de rechter ( bestuurderskant) met wat rommelen moet hij wel los te halen zijn.

thats all!    

op deze link staan wat fotos  foto 5 is het asje van de koplampwisser met links en rechts de boutjes, en op foto 8 zie je het apparaatje zelf.

photo number 8, methinks, there is the cable ducting, nearly in a 's' form. thats the problem.
Looks as though i'm gonna have to strip as much as on those photos.

Still don't know if the motors are a common problem, or should I be safe enough with second hand units? If I'm gonna have to strip the whole front end, then I'll replace them both.

Voor de bijrijderskant moet het koelreservoir aan de kant en de ECU box deels uitelkaar zodat je de kabelboom aan de kant kunt schuiven. Maar dat is als je het motortje compleet wilt uitbouwen. De stekker lostrekken zou genoeg moeten zijn. Tot die tijd zou je nog de zekering kunnen uitnemen, maar ik weet niet uit mijn hoofd welke apparaten daar nog op zitten.

motor is diconnected, looking for new motor for bothsides, if i'm gonna have to strip it i want to do it right!

moet die van mij ook nog vernieuwen. iemand idee of de motortjes van de v70 classic gewoon kunnen worden overgezet? wat mag dat kosten ongv?

Wondering if Volvo can still supply them?
Will try and check the part number with V70 classic (thats the rebadged last of the line 850, i take it??....?

Ik denk het wel. x70 <'00 is inderdaad de facelift van de 850.

one price for the gas struts was just over €37 (heuts automaterialen) per side, wiper motors not available.....

will post when i know more.
