waarom de nieuwe c70 het getal 70 heeft weet ik niet.

Omdat het interieur kleiner is dan de XC90

This is simply about marketing. You can't sell a C50 for the same price that a consumer might be prepared to pay for a C70; its about image. It might be based on that, but your average consumer doesn't know jack about cars.

Likewise the S80 is Volvo's flagship model, making the new V70 the V90 would mean it would have to be priced higher than the S80 and around the XC90, which by the way is also the reason its not called the V90. The V70 has to be marketed to a different demographic.

The only consistancy with Volvo's model designation is the S,V,C and XC, beyond that its all about branding.

Do you realize that if Volvo had called the C30 the C40, that it would be viewed as a totally different car! Its almost a mindtrick
