It had been shifting quite hard and I was worried about it earlier, so we did a flush and refilled with decent synthetic fluid. Shifts were then good and all felt ok, so I was no longer concerned.
The drive for the RWC inspection (ok to drive the vehicle there with no registration as long as you have a permit) was about 110kms each and through peak hour traffic.
The shifting, in traffic, slowly became worse and then there was only 3rd gear left.

So the guys there did the trans replacement there for me and I borrowed an S80 manual loan car for part of the day. It was a good opportunity to visit my parents and say hello.

Registration last week.

I'm now able to drive it around and finish some small tasks.

Congrats! after all your work.

Is your licenceplate really DVS 850? To bad it's a V70, should have been a 850  ;D

They are indeed my real number plates. I've had them since 2004 and have moved them around on a couple of different cars.
They were also on my old 850T5 (from 2004-2007) and then I put them aside for a few years and put them on another car (2004 Holden Commodore. 2011-2014) and then
I used them again when I registered this car last week.

...on the 850 -

and on the Commodore -

Volvo850forum sticker already has a home. I'm not sure where to put the moose (meese?) stickers yet.

V8?

I agree with that. ;)
Been too NZ a while back and I know the potential (sound) of some of those commodore's. ;)
A lot of car for your money compared to european cars.

Are you a Holden man or a Ford (Falcon) man?
You would say a Holden.

Nice job on the car, it looks really great!

V8?

Here is the one I have now -

The one is a 2009 'VE' Commodore Sportwagon (the 2004 was the previous generation 'VZ') - I bought it as a used car from interstate. I was looking for a 2010-2012 model but the price of this one made it difficult to refuse.

I'm probably more of a Holden person, but I dont care too much. I was going to buy a Falcon XR6 ute, but since we had our son, swapping cars around with my wife would have been annoying.
I've always had a Volvo, whether that was a normal car or used for track days, etc.

Both the Commodores I've had were V6 models. :( The white one was a base spec car with SS bodykit, wheels, and lowered springs and short stroke shock absorbers.
The newer black one is a SV6 so is the high-output V6 with factory bodykit, good interior, good stereo. This one was optioned with 20" HSV wheels, rear reverse camera and reverse sensors when new. It has HSV springs as well. It still needs some bodywork to be repaired and a little more work to make me happy with it.

Production of the Australian-designed and built, RWD, Commodore will end at the end of 2017, so I'm currently thinking about buying a new Commodore SSV V8 before production finishes, as I may never have another opportunity to own a vehicle like that from new.

Ohhh that looks sweeeeet.

My dad has been thinking about importing a Ute here ever since we went there. Sadly, until now, he didn't get any further than thinking.  :eusa_shifty:

Thanks!
Still a few little things to do but slowly getting there.
I'd like to fit the factory (from SSV 'Redline' models) Brembo front brakes as I regularly tow a trailer. I've already swapped the seats over from a 2011-2013 SV6 as the fronts have bigger bolsters and mine were in quite poor condition.

My Dad also has the SV6 ute. His is 6 speed manual and he's had it since new (2008). It's been super reliable, fuel economy is excellent, tows well.
he's thinking about replacing it at the moment but always reconsiders because he's been so happy with it!

AshDVS

We've been spending some more time on the V70 lately as I'm planning on taking it to the OzVolvo event in September. For me, it'll be a 2000kms trip.

On the weekend just gone we replaced the bulkhead for the heater that goes through the firewall and into the heater core. The heater core was ok, so we left that alone.
We replaced the bulkhead, the aluminium pipes and the o rings at either end.

While we were at it, we replaced the short coolant hose near the firewall as that was slightly weeping.

Today, my refurbished steering wheel arrived back so I will fit that before the meet.
It's been trimmed in charcoal alcantara with a charcoal leather centering stripe at 12 o'clock (ie where you'd have a yellow stripe on a race car steering wheel). Stitching is teal, as per the handbrake boot and centre console lid, and they've made it a little thicker.
